Casa Lapostolle Sauvignon Blanc (2009)~$11
The bouquet on this boded well -- mostly citrus but with a savory undernote. However, on the palate it tastes more like a Chardonnay, sort of buttery and oak-y (even though it's fermented in stainless steel). Unfortunately, neither of us likes Chardonnay. It has sort of a bitter finish, too. Dan describes it as "grassy," which I can't really identify. I would say that it tastes like overripe strawberries -- sort of sour and bitter? It's also sort of one-note. I wouldn't buy this again. We probably won't even drink the rest of the bottle. We'll probably use it for cooking.
Rating: 3/10 -- not a success

Lobster Reef Sauvignon Blanc 2009 (Marlborough, NZ) ~$11
This one was pretty strong on the green pepper and didn't have a super long finish. Not as citrus-y as Marlboroughs often are. It says "passion fruit and stone fruit," but that is a lie. The label also contains a misspelling, so...Pleasant enough, but I'm not sure if I would buy it again.
Rating: 6-7/10
